Player Cap:Â 12 seats (Register early to secure your spot!)
No Counterfeits ("proxies"): Please only use official cards printed by Wizards of the Coast and meant for tournament play.

What is Duel Commander?
Duel Commander is a 1v1 competitive variant of the Commander format with its own rules and ban list. It’s a highly competitive format where skill, deck-building, and strategy are key.

Most Important Differences from Regular Commander
It’s 1v1, not multiplayer.
Life total is 20 instead of 40.
Swiss rounds (up to 4 with all 12 players).
Best-of-3 matches (No sideboards, but you can swap commanders between games 2 and 3 of a round).
Separate ban list (including no Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, and many others).
Decklists required—submit via email before the event.

An up-to-date deck list must be submitted before the event starts. Send it to curiousgamesnc@gmail.com with your name clearly attached.
Banlist Information
Duel Commander has a separate ban list from multiplayer Commander. Certain cards are either banned entirely or banned as a commander only.

Tournament Structure
Swiss Rounds:Â Up to 4 rounds based on player count.
Best-of-3 Matches:Â No single-game eliminations.
Commander Swap Rule:Â While there are no sideboards, you may swap your commander for another legal commander within your deck in game 2 and/or 3 of the same round.
