Free Commander Night Returns to Curiosity as Friday Night Magic Commander!

After experimenting with allowing open & different formats during Friday Night Magic, one thing has become clear: Commander is what our community loves most. We're bringing back Friday Night Magic Commander as the main focus, creating a fun, easy-to-understand event that rewards participation without the hassle of points or tracking sheets.

Our previous Friday Night Magic League point system is officially retired. No more sheets to fill out or points to farm. Instead, we're keeping things simple and focused on playing Commander.

Event Details:

• Starts: May 2nd, 2025

• Time: Approx. 6 PM (play as long as you like!)

• Entry: FREE (but you must have a Wizards account and be signed in)

Players will pod up and have a quick pregame discussion to set their pod's power level using the Commander Bracket System provided by Wizards of the Coast. This system helps ensure everyone is on the same page about deck strength and playstyle. Not familiar with it? No problem! Just ask us when you arrive, and we’ll be happy to help explain it.

Rewards (Simple & Worth It):

• Play a full game of Commander? You’ll receive a Promo Pack!

  Each Promo Pack includes:

  • 1 promo-stamped rare or mythic from the most recent set.

  • 1 promo-stamped rare or mythic from a curated list (selected by Magic’s design studio, sometimes featuring cards from Commander products or specialty sets).

  • 1 alternate-frame card with a dark frame treatment.

  • A MTG Arena code card for digital rewards.

• Using a new commander? (from the last two sets) You’ll get an extra Promo Pack!

  Yes, even if it’s a new commander swapped into an older deck. We’re here to encourage you to try new things and stay current with the latest releases! But it must be a commander that is NEWLY printed, not just reprinted in the set.

• Each pod receives one Foil Promo Pack to divide however they like.

  Foil Promo Packs include the same great cards, but every card is foil, adding that extra shine and collectibility. Pods decide how to distribute these packs — give it to the winner, random draw, split the cards up — it’s entirely up to you! If a consensus cannot be made; please just randomize the giveaway.

*In the event we run out of promo packs, we may substitute them with regular booster packs.

No Counterfeits or Proxies Allowed

Whether you're brand new or a seasoned regular, this is your reminder that Curiosity does not permit the use of counterfeit cards, proxies, or fakes in our store under any circumstances.
